2024 TWIN BRIDGES WATER STORAGE PROJECT
Problem
The water current storage capacity in Twin Bridges is inadequate for existing and future anticipated demands and does not meet standards.
- MDEQ requires that "minimum allowable storage be equal to the average day demand plus fire flow demand."
- Recommended fire flow of 2,500 gpm for two hour in commercial and school areas.
- Twin Bridges lacks storage capacity by approximately 263,000 gallons based on projected average day demands and fire flow.
- Existing storage tank showing signs of age and needs extensive exterior and interior maintenance.
- It is felt that money would be better spent on a new single tank with adequate capacity.
Solution
- A new 560,000 gallon glass-lined steel tank will be constructed 1,000 feet north of existing tank.
- Project includes transmission main, site piping, site valving, electrical and telemetry .
- Capital Cost: $2.1 million.
